About [dog] and [pony]

[dog] and [pony] is a music venture, a Portland joint, a documentary experiment, a filmic challenge. Nick and Krister created [dog] and [pony] in the post-graduation ennui that is the mid-20s.

We're both film students, you see, with a keen interest in music. We'd been trying to satisfy our passion for the moving picture for years without fruition when we stumbled upon the Portland music scene. It was sort of an accident. We moved to Portland not realizing it had such abundance, talent and splendor.

Discovering the local music scene, however, was a watershed moment.

We were possessed, we were decided, we were settled. We knew how to both satiate that burning desire to film and to get caught up in the lovely creature that is Portland. We decided filming bands would not only bring us closer to the music that we love, but publishing it on a website might actually help spread the word about Portland's blossoming scene.

After a solid day and a half of name hunting, we settled on [dog] and [pony] (like a Dog and Pony show? It's clever...). We contacted Dead End Armory, borrowed a camera and started a project we've had nothing but fun with.
