Sleep The TV On

I've known Wes Hartley since January and he still surprises me. A lot. He just created a blog showcasing his many paintings, and I can't help but marvel at the way he sees the world.

His painting called Sleep The TV On is definitely one of my favorites. It reminds me of the same feelings I felt the first time I saw Videodrome. The painting is a less than subtle commentary on a human being's need for technology and showcasing the technology as human deformity is incredibly striking.

While Wes is damning technology in his painting, he has also spent countless hours celebrating it. He's begun collecting anything and everything involving cassette tapes. His solo project(The Misanthropical Island Homes) for example, released its first recording on cassette.

His brand new blog is just another step in the many directions Wes Hartley is headed, so take the time to check it out. He's selling his work for $15 a piece. They're originals and they're exceptional, so give them a gander.
